Horses have been a constant source of inspiration throughout the artist’s life. Their beauty, intelligence, sensitivity and enduring relationship with humans continue to influence both his artistic vision and personal philosophy. The artist is occasionally seen playing his native American flutes out in the fields among horses, and that is exactly how his equestrian inspiration started..

Through a distinctive balance of graphic simplicity, occasional symbolism and emotional resonance, each artwork seeks to capture not only the physical form of the horse, but also the spirit, energy and character that make these animals so universally admired.

“There is a reason you’ll never see a saddle, a bridle or a bit in my paintings.

That absence is intentional.

When I look at a horse, I don’t first see an equestrian discipline or a sport. I see a free, sentient being whose identity exists long before any human places leather, metal or expectation upon it.

Those things may have their purpose, but they are not the horse.

They are additions.

My work seeks to strip away everything that belongs to us, leaving only what belongs to the horse itself.

Its noble elegance, its beauty, its power, its sensitivity, its dignity, its freedom.

Spending time with my mare, Lady Luz, has profoundly shaped the way I see these extraordinary animals. Some of my most meaningful moments are not spent riding, but simply being together. Observing. Breathing. Listening. Building trust without expectation.

That experience has changed not only the way I paint horses, but the message behind every painting.

In many ways, my equestrian collection reflects a wider cultural shift. Across the world, more people are exploring relationships with horses founded on communication, trust and mutual respect, whether through liberty work, bitless riding, or other approaches that seek partnership and connection over coercive control.

I don’t paint horses as possessions or status.

I paint them as individuals.

My artistic language has always been about reducing a subject to its essential identity. With horses, that means removing everything that is man-made and revealing what remains when nothing unnecessary is left.

Not an animal defined by its equipment or human owner.

But by its spirit, its ultimate unspeakable nature.

That is the essence I hope lives on in every painting I create.
