THE STORY BEHIND

Alex Di Silvestro is an Italian-born contemporary visual artist and multidisciplinary creative whose practice sits at the intersection of contemporary art and luxury environments, art and design. His work is recognised for its distinctive minimalist aesthetic, strong visual language and highly recognisable contemporary imagery.

With a professional background spanning visual identity & design, fashion branding, interiors and contemporary art, Di Silvestro brings an unusual combination of disciplines to his practice: the instinct of an artist combined with the strategic and visual problem-solving mindset of a designer and creative director. This allows him to approach a project not simply as an artwork, but as part of a broader identity, narrative and visual ecosystem.

His career began in early-2000s London, working across fashion, portrait illustration and visual design before co-founding a luxury fashion brand with British couturier Candy Anthony. Following a multidisciplinary career in design, branding and luxury fashion, he transitioned into full-time artistic practice, developing a body of work that continues to merge the conceptual freedom of contemporary art with the precision, structure and visual discipline of design.

A defining stage of his artistic career emerged through his new-pop reinterpretations of Salvador Dalí, whose legacy played an important role in inspiring his transition into painting. What began as a personal artistic tribute developed into an ongoing collectible body of work, now one of his most recognised series and supported by an international community of returning collectors.

Today, Alex Di Silvestro creates original paintings, mixed-media and limited edition artworks, commissions and large-scale artistic works for private collectors, interior designers, luxury property developers and other commercial clients.

His work has been featured on UK Channel4 television and presented in curated and institutional contexts including the Royal College of Art in London, Street Art City in France, alongside international art fairs and private exhibitions.

His works are held in private collections across Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States, with a growing collector base drawn to his originality, craftsmanship, visual impact and distinctive colour-driven aesthetic which literally change entire environments with their bold presence.

Increasingly, his multidisciplinary background is being applied beyond the traditional gallery environment, particularly to luxury property, hospitality, commercial and branded environments. His approach combines artistic direction, visual identity and art – spatial integration to help create spaces and developments with a stronger visual identity, cultural character and emotional resonance to their unique audiences.

This intersection of art, identity and environment forms a central part of Di Silvestro’s evolving practice and unique vision: using the combined perspective of an artist and designer to provide effective solutions to visual problems, develop distinctive creative languages and translate them into memorable physical and commercial experiences.

Before becoming a full-time Contemporary Artist, Alex worked across Visual Identity, Interiors & Luxury fashion branding, developing brands and visual systems for commercial clients.
Today, this multidisciplinary experience informs a practice that extend beyond the artist vision, into the fields and Visual problem solving of Luxury Property and Interiors, Spatial identity & full Art integration.

MY ARTISTIC VISION

I am a self-taught contemporary visual and portrait artist creating minimalist works guided by intuition rather than academic convention. In an era often dominated by noise, repetition and darkness, my work remains rooted in clarity, harmony and positive resonance. Through a distinctive visual language influenced by fashion, design, street art, music, wildlife and contemporary culture, I transform human and animal subjects into bold, timeless icons.

Faces have fascinated me since childhood and portraiture remains central in my practice. By reducing forms to their essential lines and colour fields, I create emotionally charged images where minimalism meets pop and design. My works seek balance between simplicity and presence, graphic precision and human emotion.

Andy Warhol ’s bold visual language and ability to redefine contemporary iconography have been a major influence on my work. Equally significant is Salvador Dalí, whose fearless creativity, personal brand identity and multidisciplinary vision inspired me to shape my own artistic direction. What began as an experimental dandy portrait interpretation of Dalí evolved into an ongoing body of work that continues to attract an international base of returning collectors.

Working across acrylic, mixed media, wall art and selected 3D installations, my process is both minimalist and meticulous. Flat layers of carefully selected colours, often enhanced with spray techniques, create clean surfaces with strong chromatic contrast and no visible brushwork. Each artwork is conceived not simply as an image, but as a visual signature capable of carrying emotion, symbolism and even a full narrative through reduction and clarity.

My wider creative practice is informed by a multidisciplinary background in visual identity, branding, fashion, design and creative direction. This allows me to approach art not only as an artist, but also as a visual problem-solver: considering how imagery, colour, composition and artistic language can contribute to the identity and experience of a space, brand or environment. This intersection of art, identity and design has become increasingly relevant to my work with luxury property, commercial and other branded environments.

The core of my practice is defined by medium to large-scale, one-off original paintings and commercial projects. Alongside these, I develop a limited number of hand-finished unique mixed-media variations, materially distinct pieces that re-explore texture and surface while remaining anchored to the original concept. Selected works are occasionally released as limited editions, always unique and signed.

Rather than building my career primarily around awards or institutional recognition, my practice has been shaped through continuous studio work and direct relationships with collectors, commercial partners and collaborators. Exhibitions, media features and professional recognition have formed part of that journey, but repeat acquisitions and long-term relationships remain the most meaningful measure of my work’s impact.

Today, this same combination of artistic intuition, visual discipline and design thinking informs my approach to both individual artworks and larger-scale commercial  projects.
